Artist statement: A photo that was an experiment, one filled with heavy shadowing, prominent colors and a busy background. I really wanted to try to incorporate a lot of different elements with this photograph without it feeling to overwhelming. I really wanted it to have a more dynamic feel than what I'm used to. Specific medium: Portrait
Neverland
Mads Otis
Artist statement: A portrait that was taken against the time of nightfall. I used the dulling sunset as a backdrop of the photos I took during this session. I allowed for the sky to fill in the holes that often a blurred backdrop cannot express. I worked with the sky and I truly wanted it to feel just as apart of the photo as the women in focus. Specific medium: portrait
Crisp Sunsets
Mads Otis
Artist statement: A portrait I took in early April when there was still a chill in the air. I wanted to mess with the depth of photography, I wanted to allow for a sense of a double focal point in one photo. I wanted to experiment with lighting the women's back and allowing for the shadows to fill in on one side, allowing for a more relaxed feel. Specific medium: Portrait
