Artist statement: While walking along the beach in Montpellier, France, I came across this child's sneaker. My curiosity was peaked: was it left behind by an American tourist? Or a French child whose favorite colors were red, white and blue? Painting the sandy beach was a fun exercise in splattering. I recommend it for stress relief!

Artist statement: Painting with watercolor is my key to my secret garden, to my way down the rabbit hole, to my very own looking glass. My subjects are varied, ranging from seascapes, landscapes, portraits and still life. The emotion that I want to evoke is delight and I want the painting to entertain. My strong hope is that my art awakens the childlike wonder within everyone who sees it.

Marsha Gleason
$500.00

Artist statement: I am a figurative artist who paints in oil, in the method of Direct painting. The figure is the primary genre in my work; the paint itself is compelling to me. Together, they prove rich, often personal subjects, and give attention to things that matter. Painting with models from life changed during the pandemic. Still, I found it satisfying to work from zoom, photos, and my own image in the mirror. Searches and surprises still came from working in my studio, but I so missed being face-to-face.
