In the Greenhouse
In the Greenhouse
Maryann Amodeo
$300.00

Artist statement: I did not have a clear direction when I began this painting. The image emerged spontaneously on the canvas as I was painting undefined shapes of turquoise, ivory and green. Unexpectedly, the addition of red seemed to confirm that this was a picture of plants in a greenhouse. A few white dots completed the composition.
Specific medium: Acrylic
Whimsical Garden
Whimsical Garden
Maryann Amodeo
$800.00

Artist statement: A friend said I should put more whimsy in my acrylic painting. She said she had seen this in other pieces of art I had done and I should try to do more of it when I had a blank canvas and brush in hand. When I started this painting, I was not thinking of that comment but I believe the comment influenced the outcome.

Blooming in Snow
Blooming in Snow
Maryann Amodeo
$200.00

Artist statement: I rarely feature white in a painting and I was interested in seeing the effect so I did a painting using muted colors and a significant amount of white. The colors worked but the painting seemed static. I decided to paint over it and start again. With a roller and white paint, I began to cover the image but in the midst of this, I realized I liked what emerged so I proceeded to develop it.

Tidal Stream
Tidal Stream
Phil Atiyeh
$150.00

Selected for Exhibition
Artist statement: A stream of water below me, headed out with the tide, had attracted my attention. I was taking a break from photographing the birds and pointed my camera straight down from the elevated boardwalk. So many colors and shapes from the stones, seaweed and shells. And with the current and the light, it was mesmerizing.

The Fisherman
The Fisherman
Phil Atiyeh
$150.00

Artist statement: I was drawn to a lone fisherman standing on the shore and casting his line out into the harbor against a backdrop of the Newport Bridge. He was clearly there for the day with cooler, raingear and backpack. He paused for a moment, hat in hand under his own bridge of fishing pole and fishing line. We both paused and took in the moment.

Artist statement: A head on view of a bald-faced hornet is terrifying. These creatures look like they're wearing war paint - a clear warning for intruders to stay away. Their nest, about the size of a balling ball, is equally impressive with beautiful texturing and venting. The morning light hitting him as he exited made this for me.
