Selected for Exhibition Artist statement: The blurry edges between mental health and illness, the variability of states of being, and the tangled interweaving paths of memory, meaning and response - all are central concepts that inspire me as an artist. While the subject matter and approach of each piece varies, that emotion is inseparable from my art. Through elements of repetition and memory, variation and cohesion, I often seek to capture something as intangible as the complex interworking of human thought and emotion. Specific medium: Acrylic Paint on Canvas
Basket of Berries
Ann McCrea
Artist statement: It's all paper all the time! Pulp and mâché are two media that I thoroughly enjoy. Working with paper pulp means releasing some control to the medium. I enjoy how the pulp changes with slight movement or the placement of new pulp detail. My most recent pulp paintings are much smaller than "Berries". They are a pulp / diaries of places I've traveled. I incorporate train tickets and maps, that, when they settle in the pulp, they become as mysterious as the travel itself. Specific medium: Paper pulp with magic marker

Valerie Moran-Clark
$85.00
Artist statement: Seeking to express internal tension aesthetically, I utilize an eclectic mixed-media format. I use a variety of methods to apply both paint and paper to canvas, board, and paper; printing with found objects and stamping with sponges and textiles, and smearing with my fingers, hands and arms. My process is intuitive and cycles repetitions to create a cohesion of separate components. The persistence of time and the use of multiple techniques on a piece give each unique character and depth.
Specific medium: acrylic
