Peony Awakening
Judith Freeman Clark
$800.00
Selected for Exhibition
Artist statement: As an artist working in transparent watercolor, I want to pique the viewer's curiousity and encourage appreciation of this challenging medium. My paintings invite a closer look at the myriad forms and colors of flowers, and ask how light and shadow influence the interpretation of landscapes. In "Peony Awakening," brilliant tones of pink fuschia, and cerise contrast with green stems and leaves, while the stark black background guarantees strong visual impact.

Feeling Cheerful
Judith Freeman Clark
$400.00
Artist statement: As an artist working in transparent watercolor, I want to pique the viewer's curiousity and encourage appreciation of this challenging medium. My paintings invite a closer look at the myriad forms and colors of flowers, and ask how light and shadow influence the interpretation of landscapes. In "Feeling Cheerful" (a simple rendition of daisies in a pewter bowl) I experimented with granulating pigments. I used a wet-into-wet technique, encouraging them to blend together freely.
Specific medium: transparent watercolor
Sunlight & Shadow, Staglieno Cemetery, Genoa
Judith Freeman Clark
$600.00
Artist statement: As an artist working in transparent watercolor, I invite the viewer to look closely at the myriad forms and colors of flowers, or ask how light and shadow influence the interpretation of landscapes. In February 2015, I visited a large cemetery in Italy. My painting, "Sunlight and Shadows at Staglieno, Genoa," shows hazy morning light filtering among thousands of gravestones, depicts the portico emerging from shadows into sunlight, and suggests houses scattered across a distant hillside.
Specific medium: transparent watercolor
Early Rising
Donna Cobb
$65.00
Artist statement: I enjoy photographing the garden as it progresses from early dawn to morning. The soft light renders beautiful shadows across the flowers and foliage. I live in a residential area in northern Worcester County that provides access to the mountain and various water sources. This image was taken in my own garden. I had just moved the potted sunflower the day before to align with the morning sun.

A Place To Be Found

Artist statement: Photographing autumn is a privilege for those who live here in New England. I reside in a residential area in northern Worcester County. I have passed this gate each season but during the subtle shift from summer to autumn, the simplicity of this gate touched with colors of a changing season invite you to stop and stare. This photography was taken on a late fall morning when the sun was crossing the road.

Harnessing Autumn
Donna Cobb

Selected for Exhibition
Artist statement: My work focuses on nature. With living in central New England comes the gift of viewing autumn in its full splendor. The colors of saffron, pumpkin, copper and gold jump forth from the trees. The colorful leaves of saffron in this picture was a glorious experience as the tree foliage hit the light. This picture was taken at a local cemetery where the trees are old and stand in vintage elegance each fall.
