Susan Graseck
$525.00
Artist statement: Neither a realist nor an abstractionist, I live—as a painter—in a space between. A sense of distance and a disappearing horizon often anchor my visual understanding of the world. I paint largely from memories and experiences, seeking the essence of a place or time and exploring the imagery with my paint until I find myself looking through the scene to the feelings it evokes. It is then that the final piece begins to take shape.
Specific medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Artist statement: Artist is my second favorite name to be called, after Mom. While art is not my primary profession, it is a process that fills me with joy and brings light and beauty to what have been some dark days in the world recently. I enjoy capturing the world around me in natural and designed environments. Photography allows me to see the world in a viewfinder, narrowing its vastness, its complications and stresses to a manageable scale.
